I started this series called “Home” in March 2020 during the pandemic. It’s primarily inspired by discussion with friends, moms, like me or the news. Like a diary, it’s the recording of a time between hope and despair. We were trying to stay safe and at the same time, we had to reinvent our daily routines between work, school, family and friends. At the beginning I didn’t have the time or the energy to work on canvas, but I was super inspired by what everybody was doing around me, what solutions they were finding for each problem: homeschooling, working from home, cleaning the groceries, sawing masks, etc…While working on it, I realized that the social and economic crisis that followed the health crisis were also about the notion of home, but in this case, the risk of losing it. Our only shelter during the pandemic is taken away from people who need it most. This concept of "Home" is also related to the planet and the current climate change. How are we going to shape the world after this pandemic? More than any house, the planet is our home and we are slowly losing it… The series “Home'' is a recording of our time, and since we’re still not done with the virus, I keep on adding to it. It’s a work in progress.
