Welcome to the The Armour-Stiner House on the Hudson River, 30 mn north of Manhattan, and not very far from Sleepy Hollow. Remember the legend of the headless horseman… you will find a couple of artworks on the subject displayed in the house. This octagonal house has a full dome inspired by Donato Bramante’s 1502 Tempietto in Rome and the ground floor features a beautifully carved veranda. During the winter holidays, each room is decorated with 19th century Christmas trees and ornaments. The table is dressed and the menue looks appetizing! (Except maybe the “Tête de veau en tortue”???)You’ll notice the beautiful Egyptian room, it’s the only domestic Egyptian Revival room still in existence with its original 19th-century furnishings and decoration. The starred ceiling is just stunning! The whole house made me think of a beautiful strawberry shortcake, and you know how much I love painting cakes ;-) Want to read more about the history of this house: www.armourstiner.com
