It was hard to say goodbye, it was hard to pack, it was hard to leave sunny California and so many amazing friends, but we couldn’t resist, the adventure was too tempting.
Why starting a blog? First because my memory has more holes than Swiss Cheese and I want to remember this experience. This blog will be my notebook, my sketchbook and the knot in my handkerchief, but this blog can also become a lot more with your comments, advice and wisdom it could be a continuity of our friendship regardless of distance and time difference.
During our two weeks Road trip across America I added quite a few new states to my list. Everyday I took little videos of the view. Enjoy this little excerpt.
Of Course, while we’re driving, our things are being moved across the oceans on a container. We only have the strict minimum with us, clothes, computers, some important papers and… our bike helmets… We are already planning on buying second hand bikes as soon as we arrive in the Netherlands. It will save us some money if we don’t have to buy helmets too…but we will soon discover that nobody wears helmet in Holland! Seriously! Nobody!
Our road trip wasn’t a good time for painting, I didn’t have any of my art material, only my iPad. I was hoping to work on some sketches, for new paintings that I’ve had in the back of my mind for a while, but I got lazy, I embraced completely this amazing 2 weeks of sweet idleness, this dolce far niente … and I produced nothing! Taking pictures was fun though!
That’s all for my first post, don’t forget to color outside the lines,
From Amsterdam with love.
